We survived our exciting trip to the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo, where we let lots of people get their hands on Transistor for the first time. Turns out a bunch of them liked it! See below for links to what people said about the game, or check our E3 photo gallery on Facebook for a glimpse of our trip. In the meantime, much as we loved basking in the neon light of E3, it feels good to be back to work! We're in the thick of development and look forward to making good progress this summer.

Reveal Trailer

Is Transistor avaialble? Yes! Transistor first launched on May 20, 2014 for the PlayStation 4 and PC.

What are Transistor's launch platforms and where can I get it? PlayStation 4 and PC.
- TRANSISTOR on PSN
- TRANSISTOR on Steam

What other platforms is Transistor available on? Transistor is also available for Nintendo Switch, Mac, Linux, iPhone, and iPad. The Steam version of the game gives you access to the Windows, Mac, and Linux versions, or you can get the Mac version at the Mac App Store. The iPhone and iPad version is available on the App Store. Transistor is also available for the new Apple TV!

Is the game's soundtrack available? Yes! The Transistor Original Soundtrack was released on our May 20 launch day for $9.99 for the digital version, and $11.99 for digital + compact disc. It's available on Steam stand-alone and bundled with the game, and on this web site. A deluxe Vinyl Edition is also available! The Transistor Original Soundtrack features more than 60 minutes of music created for the game by Supergiant's Darren Korb, with vocals by Ashley Barrett.

The OST includes an exclusive bonus track, "Signals", created especially for this release.

Also, as a small token of our gratitude for Transistor's success, we're pleased to present Steam, our online store, YouTube, and right here:

This bonus album by our composer and audio director Darren Korb contains more than 80 minutes of alternate music tracks, featuring the amazing vocals of Ashley Barrett and instrumental versions of some key pieces from the soundtrack. We're releasing it as a free update to everyone who picked up the Transistor OST on Steam or our web site, and it's also available for free streaming. We hope you enjoy it!

Will Transistor be available in my country? Transistor is available worldwide. The game includes English voiceover and text in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, and Japanese.

Who is the developer of Transistor? We're Supergiant Games, an independent development studio based in San Francisco, California. Our first game Bastion released in 2011 and proceeded to earn more than 100 industry accolades and sell more than two million copies across all platforms. You can learn more about us on our team page.

Who is the publisher of Transistor? We are publishing Transistor ourselves. We had a great experience working with Warner Bros. as our distribution partner on Bastion though this time around we wanted to see if we could do it on our own.

Where can I get screenshots and media of Transistor? You can find all the screenshots and artwork we've released on our Transistor page.

Which formats will the Transistor Original Soundtrack be available in? The Transistor Original Soundtrack will be offered in MP3 and FLAC formats, and in compact disc format on this web site (which includes the digital version).

Can I order the game and the soundtrack from this web site? Yes!

Where did you get funding for Transistor? As with Bastion, we self-funded Transistor, and have not sought or accepted funding from any outside sources. This means we can make the game we want to make on our own terms and timeline. We've re-invested the money we made from Bastion into this game.

Will Transistor ever come to other platforms? We don't know, though we haven't ruled anything out for the future. Bringing Transistor to new platforms is a significant undertaking for our small team so we don't take on those kinds of opportunities lightly, as the quality of our game is the most important thing to us.

How big is the development team? All seven members of the team that created Bastion are working together again on Transistor, with the help of several key new additions. We got up to 12 people while making the original versions of Transistor, and are looking to stay at around that size, as the small-team dynamic is important to how we operate.

When did Transistor first go into development? While some of the ideas on the project date back to around the time Bastion was wrapping development, we first started seriously talking about and prototyping concepts for Transistor in the fall of 2011 some months after Bastion shipped. We kept busy supporting Bastion and working on additional versions of the game for the following year so full-time work on Transistor didn't start until around September of 2012.

What engine is the game running on? Transistor is running on our proprietary 2D engine, an evolution of the tools and technology we created to make Bastion. The engine was originally written in C# using the XNA framework for the first versions of Bastion. Now it uses our fork of MonoGame, which allows us to support more platforms and continue making improvements. Since Bastion, we have implemented a large number of improvements and optimizations to our code base, from a much more powerful scripting language to a new lighting system and more.

How long is the game? Our goal, much like with Bastion, is to create a complete-feeling experience that leaves players satisfied. Thus we want the length to feel "just right". We are committed to making games that respect your time and are not filled with meaningless filler content.

Does the game have multiplayer or co-op? Transistor is first and foremost a single-player experience. Our narrative goals for the project are best suited to a game you play on your own. At the same time, we wanted to explore some online features we felt could enhance the experience of the game and its atmosphere.

One of the most common questions we get about our next game is, which platforms is it coming to? Today we're excited to have a specific answer for you at last: When Transistor is released sometime early next year, it will be available day one for PlayStation 4, and for PC on Steam. We plan to bring the game to Linux and Mac afterwards, and haven't ruled anything out beyond that.

Supergiant art director Jen Zee created this piece, "Cloudbank", which is being featured in the Into the Pixel exhibition at E3 this year!

It's no coincidence we're making this announcement now during the week of the big Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. Sony gave us the opportunity to show our game in their booth this week, where we'll be on hand with an early playable build. After an amazing PAX East, it's going to be great letting a whole new slew of players try the game at E3 -- but back to the topic at hand!

Even before we announced Transistor earlier this year, we'd been giving a lot of thought to which platform or platforms would make the best home for the game. It's a big decision that can influence aspects of the game's design and can ultimately have a lot to do with its overall success. By focusing on the PlayStation 4 and PC as our launch platforms, we think we'll be able to reach many of our existing fans right from the start, while letting us focus on delivering the best game possible at launch.

You may know that our first game, Bastion, is available for more than six different platforms at this point. But it started on just one. We were still working on new versions of Bastion more than a year after the initial launch on Xbox LIVE Arcade. The main reason Bastion ended up in so many places, of course, is because a lot of people liked the game. And the main reason a lot of people liked it is because we were able to create the game we wanted to make in the first place, by not spreading our focus too thin and making sure Bastion ran great on XBLA, then on Steam, and so on. So, in short: Our strategy of focusing on a console/PC launch worked well on Bastion so we're doing it again on Transistor.

If you have more questions, please check our newly minted Transistor FAQ, or contact us on Twitter, Facebook, or right here on our web site! Lastly, if you'd like us to notify you when the game is out, we invite you to join our mailing list:

We're back after a whirlwind couple of weeks following the reveal of our next game, Transistor. The initial response we got to the announcement and reveal trailer was everything we could have hoped for, and the response we got a couple of days later at PAX East was even better. There we let hundreds of people get their hands on the game, as they braved lines much longer than we expected for a chance to try an early build. Now that we're back, our mission is to build the game that will more than live up to the promise all those people saw in it. Your support means everything as we press onward, and we really appreciate all the feedback we got during the show and from all sorts of places on the Internet.

In the mean time, check out photos of our trip, and check out some of the coverage we got from various gaming publications around the world:

We are very, very excited to reveal today a new game we've been working on here at Supergiant, a science-fiction-themed action RPG we're calling Transistor. We'll have an early build playable this week at PAX East at our booth #892, and right now, we have our reveal trailer! Check it out and read on.

Transistor invites players to wield an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin as they explore a stunning futuristic city. We're designing our next game to seamlessly integrate thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, complete with our studio's signature melding of responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling. All of us from the Bastion development team are working together again on this new project, with the aid of a handful of talented new people who've joined us since Bastion's launch.

In Transistor, players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it. Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor's mysteries as they pursue its former owners.

We expect Transistor to be released in early 2014. We have not yet decided on which platform or platforms the game will be available for.

We know you'll have a lot of questions about Transistor, so we'll be putting together a FAQ that addresses them, as well as answering more via Twitter and Facebook -- and in person at PAX East this week! And now that the cat's out of the bag, we'll be keeping you posted on how development is coming along in the weeks and months to come. We can't wait to hear what you think!

Update: The Humble Weekly Sale featuring Bastion is now over! Thanks to everyone who participated. People purchased approximately 80,000 copies of Bastion during the course of that week!

To coincide with the reveal of Transistor, we're very happy to have Bastion in the Humble Weekly Sale! Pay what you want for our first game and get it DRM-free for PC, Mac, and Linux. Pay a little more and get our never-before-released Bastion Digital Art Pack plus physical merchandise including a Transistor post card! Part (or all) of your proceeds go to charity.

We're very grateful for all the support we've received for our first game.

As the year (perhaps the WORLD?!) draws to a close, we wanted to recap some of the latest news on what's happening with Bastion and with us at Supergiant.

Bastion Announcer Pack for Dota 2 We're very happy to reveal the Bastion Announcer Pack for Dota 2, Valve's popular and incredibly deep team-based action strategy game!

Featuring more than 700 original lines of voiceover delivered by the voice of Bastion's narrator, Logan Cunningham, the Bastion Announcer Pack for Dota 2 puts our special spin on one of the most complex and engaging competitive games we've ever played. A couple of us on team are huge fans of Dota 2 (the original DotA mod for Warcraft III is one of Supergiant cofounder Amir Rao's all-time favorite games) so it was a real treat to contribute something to this game and collaborate with the amazing team at Valve. If you'd like to know more about Dota 2, visit the official web site.

Bastion for a Buck + More Stuff on Sale For a limited time, Bastion is just $0.99 on the App Store! For good measure, this latest version of Bastion was just named iOS Game of the Year on Metacritic.com. Note: The iOS version of Bastion requires an iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch 5th generation, or iPad 2 or newer.

Also, the Steam version of Bastion is on sale as part of the Steam Holiday Sale.

Lastly, all Bastion merchandise in our online store is 20% off through the end of the year, including our new Scumbag Plushie.

Season's Greetings from Supergiant From all of us at Supergiant, we wish you a happy and safe holiday season, and best wishes for the year to come. Jen put the sentiment in the form of a wallpaper-sized visual here:

Thank you for your ongoing support. And a very special thanks to those of you who've been keeping tabs on us ever since before Bastion was released. This has been another great year for us -- a year in which we got Bastion on Mac, Linux, the iPad, and the iPhone, and into the Humble Indie Bundle, and now Dota 2 -- and we're all the more excited to press onward as 2013 rolls around. We hope you'll come along for the ride.

In honor of the weather getting colder in the northern hemisphere, the Supergiant Store is having a HOLIDAY SALE, now through the end of the year! Every item is marked down by around 20% or more, so it's a great time to stock up on items for any fans of Bastion on your holiday shopping list.

What's more, we've added two exciting new items: the Scumbag Plushie ($19.99) and the new Bastion Ultimate Collector's Bundle ($89.99), featuring every item we have on offer (the previous version of the Bastion Collector's Bundle is still available for $39.99). We hope you find something you like.

About the Supergiant Store: Every item in the Supergiant Store was designed by us, and we ship everything straight from our San Francisco headquarters.

Domestic & International Shipping: We guarantee shipping by Christmas in North America for purchases made between now and December 17. We ship to anywhere in the world, though we ask that international customers please order as early as possible to best ensure your order arrives in time for the holidays.

Today we're rolling out the 1.1 update to Bastion for iPad, which adds support for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, and 5th generation iPod touch! As part of this, Bastion is now fully optimized for the iPhone 5's Retina display -- check out the screenshots in this post to get an impression -- and we've also added iCloud support so your progress can transfer seamlessly from one device to another. (To transfer existing data to iCloud, please update the app and load each save slot you want to sync.)

This is a free update if you already own Bastion for iPad, and new players can get the game on any of these devices for $4.99. Either way, head over to Bastion's page on the App Store to get the latest version, or read on for more info.

Bastion for iPad was our first foray into iOS gaming, and the response we got was amazing. The game earned Editors' Choice on the App Store, very positive reviews from the press, as well as glowing reviews from thousands of players who took the time to rate it.

Then, a couple of months ago on September 12, Apple unveiled the iPhone 5. Now, we'd previously stated in our FAQ for the iPad version that we chose to focus exclusively on iPad both for technical reasons and because we "felt the game experience would not translate well to the iPhone's smaller screen." Well, the iPhone 5 added quite a bit of screen real estate, so we decided to take another look. And sure enough, we found that Bastion looked great and ran beautifully on the new device. Of course we still needed to update all the menu screens and re-tune the controls to fit the smaller form factor, not to mention implement iCloud support, so all that took a little while. But it's finally ready!

While we were looking into getting the game on iPhone 5, we wanted to see which other iOS devices we could support. We found the game looked and played better than we expected on iPhone 4S, and also worked great on the new 5th generation iPod touch, so we added support for those too.

Bastion also plays great on the recently released iPad mini and 4th generation iPad. The iPad mini's smaller form factor turns out to be a very comfortable fit if you prefer the Classic Controls setting, and the game runs especially fast and smooth on the 4th gen iPad.

Here is a full list of devices supported by Bastion for iOS after the 1.1 update: - iPad 2 - iPad 3rd Generation - iPad 4th Generation - iPad mini - iPhone 4S - iPhone 5 - iPod touch 5th Generation

The game will not run on older devices for technical reasons.

If you have more questions about Bastion for iOS, check out to our updated FAQ from the Bastion iPad launch. And if you get a chance to try this latest update, please let us know what you think by rating the app or leaving comments here or on Twitter or Facebook.
